Abyss Trumps, Borders and Badges

Someone suggested that it would be helpful to go into this subject a bit, so here goes.

First off, let’s start by saying that not all Trumps work in all parts of the Abyss. In fact, it might be better to say that most Trumps do not work in most parts of the Abyss. that’s more accurate.

In general, if you are in a Realm, or on a Rock, like one of the Beaches maybe, and the person you are calling is on the same Realm, Rock or Beach, then the Trump will probably work. But, if you are not in the same place, or if you are in the Big Black, then, unless it;s a really special Trump, made by one of a quite small group of possible artists, then the chances are that you are going to be shit out of luck.

And with that being said, let’s get onto the actual Trumps.

Borders: So, like with most other Trumps, the border owes more to the person that drew it, than it does to the subject. In the Abyss, artists use three different borders, depending mostly on the Abyss layer that the Realm that the y consider their primary Abyss Realm to be, is in.

This is the border for a Trump drawn by someone with a strongest allegiance to a realm in the Brownwater layer.

Badges: These are usually related to the person depicted in the Trump, more specifically, again, to the realms and locations that they are strongly associated with, or if they have a personal badge of some kind, or a House badge, then that also can be used. If the come from the Abyss though, again it is the layers that dictate the symbol used for a badge.

The Brownwater badge is based on the artwork connected with the electrons orbiting an atomic nucleus. The symbology implying that Brownwater Realms orbit a Topside Creation.

The Bluewater badge has actually been adopted from the Seal of Rasillon, the founder of the Time Lords in the 6th Cycle.

Nobody is really completely sure what the origins of the Blackwater badge are. Interestingly though, the same badge and border are used by the Abyssal Waters, and some some less reverent individuals have suggested that the badge signifies liquids flowing down the drain.
