History of Amber

Amber was the original Pattern Realm on the Outside, now ruled by King Random, with Queen Vialle.

There are two complete reflections of Amber – one undersea (Rebma), and one ghostly sky realm (Tir-na Nog’th). The undersea reflection was recently destroyed as a result of a death curse, and the so called ‘Rebma effect’ which used to make the water breathable, and the pressure on the sea bed survivable, has ceased.

Amber was originally created by Dworkin Barimen, who has been missing for some time. Dworkin’s son Oberon was king of Amber for many centuries, and has a dynasty of children with various wives and mistresses.

The eldest 3 children with the first wife (Cymnea) were Osric (now living in the Courts of Chaos), Finndo (now King of the realm of the Eternal Tree called Dealunde) and Benedict, Prince Marshal of Amber.

During this marriage there was a dalliance with Swayvanna which produced Aoibheann, the treasurer of Amber.

The next offspring with Faiella were Eric (born out of wedlock, deceased, Corwin (now living in a realm of his own creation), and Deirdre (fell into the Abyss, since returned to Rebma).

Out of wedlock between marriages Oberon had Caine (Spymaster of Amber) with a woman called Rilga.

Oberon’s next marriage was to Clarissa, a daughter of House Helgram in the Courts of Chaos. That union produced 3 children – Fiona, Princess Arcana of Amber, Bleys (living in shadow but a regular visitor to Amber), and Brand (fell into the Abyss during a coup attempt, subsequently rescued and reformed, and then disappeared again).

During that marriage, before the birth of Brand, Oberon had an affair with Moins (then Queen of Rebma) to produce Moire (the missing former Crown Princess of Rebma) and Llewella (now Queen of Rebma).

Clarissa was subsequently divorced and Oberon married Rilga, to produce Gerard (Prince Admiral of Amber) and Julian (Prince of Arden).

Rilga is reported to have grown old, and been retired to a nunnery. Oberon had an affair with Harla which overlapped the end of his marriage to Rilga, and may have been bigamous, which produced Delwin (the mad, Rot Adler etc. – father of Robert of Sable) and Sand (grandmother of Roland Helgram, Pater Deorum Aurellis) – the only twins Oberon had.

Oberon next married Dybele to produce Florimel (Princess Royal of Amber), but the marriage was short lived and ended in divorce.

The last marriage of Oberon was to Paulette, and produced Random (now King of Amber). Paulette died in childbirth.

There is rumour of a further child of Oberon by Deela the Desecratrix (enemy of Amber) possibly via rape, called Dalt. Certainly there is a Dalt, who is now King of the Realm of Sarrabann in the Courts of Chaos. He is married to Swayvanilla – grand-daughter of the late Swayville the Golden, King of Thelbane.

There is also rumour of an affair with the then Queen of Kashfa, which produced Coral (now Queen of Kashfa).
