People from the Federation

President Lincoln Troy-Abrahams XVI

There has been much upheaval in the Federation recently - most clearly represented by the fact that Lincoln is the new President and is actually only the 2nd president in the roughly 700 years of Federation history.

The death after a long illness of the previous president (Randol Yorke) took place in March 760, and after assuming executive authority as Vice President, Lincoln called a quick election to confirm his position. During a vicious campaign that resulted in a number of deaths and injuries of prominent Federation movers and shakers, Lincoln proved victorious.

First Lady Helen de Troy-Abrahams

One of the most beautiful women in Federation society, Helen was a key figure in the recent election campaign of her husband, Lincoln.

Acknowledged as a mage of no small standing, the less charitable social commentators have been quick to point out that Helen is quite possibly the brains in the marriage, there is great hope (particularly amongst the women of the Federation) that the new regime, and Helen's prominent part in it will herald better times for them.

Vice President Michael Barley

Michael Barley was the Secretary of Defense in the previous administration, and as the most significant fighter in the Federation, his survival during the election seemed assured. However, in what was considered a masterful move, President Troy-Abrahams decided that rather than fighting against Barley, he would do a lot better with him on the same ticket, and Barley made the assessment that his long term plans would not be significantly set back by spending a period in the VP's seat.

Speaker of Senate Lincoln Troy-Abrahams XVII

Speaker Lincoln is the eldest and first born son of President Lincoln, with his wife Helen. After a spectacular military career, he followed his father into politics, securing the election as the senator of New Hampshire, and eventually securing the seat as Speaker of Senate.

Archmage Isis Yorke

Isis Yorke is a child of Megan, the former chief of the Facilitators, and a student from the days of Rufus Yorke, the previous Archmage of the Federation. She is one of the new wave of appointments to senior government positions that have happened under the regime of President Troy-Abrahams.

The Archmage has reponsibility for the licensing of sorcerers and ritualists in the Federation, and for the training of Magic.

Secretary of State William Hamilton

William Hamilton was Secretary of State in the old regime, and decided to avoid all the unpleasantness of the election by not putting himself forward. He also reasoned that, regardless of who won, the likelihood was that they would still need his services, due to him having one of the foremost minds in the Federation.

Federation Celebrity Nadine Hamilton

Wife of the Secretary of State, Nadine is rapidly growing accustomed to the vaulted heights of Federation social circles in Yorktowne.

During the previous administration, the process of passing on the loyalty virus involved sexual liaisons with particularly attractive 'girls' (called Facilitators) - and it was not uncommon for senior members of the administration to be assigned their own 'girls' to help get their staff infected. What was unusual in Hamilton's case, was that he married his facilitator. it was also rumoured to be the case that he had found a way for himself to avoid the infection.

Secretary of Transportation William Burke

As the chairman of Amtrak, William Burke is in charge of all Pilots in the Federation. Another survivor of the election, despite having put his name forward, the new President had little choice but to re-appoint him to the Transport chair, as there was nobody else sufficient abilities to hold the position.

Being as how Pilots are crucial to the federation keeping in touch with its far flung states, it goes without saying that Burke was presented with a Facilitator, whom he subsequently married. She has also survived the illness that accompanied the change of administration, and has stayed with her husband under the new regime.

Federation Celebrity Collette Burke

Wife of the Secretary of Transportation, Collette is another of the 'new women' that are gracing the social scene in Yorktowne since the election.

Seemingly uncaring that her job under the previous administration was to have affairs with all of her husband's top administration, Collette is a very visible supporter of her husband and his work.

Secretary of Defense Guinevere Wolfe

The family of Wolfe has long been near to the seat of power in the Federation. The founder of the dynasty was the late Rufus Wolfe, rumoured to be a son of the Pater Deorum Aurellis, who was part of the original rebellion that founded the Federation, and served as archmage of the Federation until his death.

Guinevere is Rufus' grand daughter, and has followed the traditions of most of the Wolfe family, by heading in to the military. Having the advantage of her mother's genetics, she has risen rapidly through the ranks to senior staff level, and in the new regime, with the previous Defense Secretary now serving as Vice President, she was a natural choice to take the Defense position.

Secretary of Agriculture Hannibal Leicester

One of the most controversial features of Federation life is that which is governed by the Department of Agriculture, and Hannibal was not only it's leader, but also for the most part its sponsor and instigator.

An ambitious man, it was to his great misfortune that in the early days of the Federation election campaign he was seriously injured when a bomb exploded underneath his carriage, rendering him unable to continue his campaign.

He was, however, upon his return to health, able to persuade the new President to return him to the job which he had made all his own at the F.D.A.
