Parys

A perfect dream…

The Patternfall War is referred to in that way because it all came about as a reault of damage done to the Primal Pattern of Amber. During that war, while times were dark, and when it was not clear that the damage could be fixed, Corwin of Amber took it upon himself to draw a new Pattern to be an alternative Reality, should Amber fall.

Corwin was not reknowned for his arcane technical skills. In fact, as experts go, he was pretty much not on anybody’s list. For this reason, it is not perhaps surprising that his efforts to draw a Pattern did not quite turn out as he might have wished. In fact, what Corwin actually managed to Create was the first Neutral Power, a Primal Power encompassing elements of both Chaos and Order, the Realm of Parys was born.

It has recently been announced that the Realm of Parys Realm will have a government structure comprised of a three part Synod.

The first part of the Synod is the Royal family. The Reigning Monarch, and his immediate family by blood, particularly with his four daughters, Ganeida, Utari, Michelle and Elisabeth forming a Regency Council in his absence, shall hold the vote of the first House of Synod. The Royal House will meet at the Royal Palace of Versailles, once it is rebuilt.

The second part of the synod is the House of Clergy. Formed from the priesthood of the Church of Parys, and administered by the Reverend, prelate of Parys, a House comprising 10 bishops, and 90 priests, and chaired by the Reverend shall hold the vote of the second House of Synod. The House of Clergy will meet at the Cathedral of Sacre Coeur in Montmartre.

The third part of Synod is the House of Laity. A House formed of 348 Senators elected from amongst the population of the different districts of Parys, chaired by a Speaker selected from amongst their number will hold the vote of the third House of Synod. The House of Laity will meet at the Palais du Luxembourg.

Ministers will be selected for key individual positions of government by the Royal House, and their appointment must be ratified by at least one of the other Houses of Synod.

Laws may be proposed by any of the Houses, and if supported by one other House, then the law is passed.

Judges to sit in courts of law will be selected by the House of Clergy, and their appointment must be ratified by at least one other House of Synod.

Taxes will be proposed by the House of Laity at such levels as are required to pay for all the necessary functions of government, and must be ratified by at least one other House of Synod.

A perfect dream: a quote from Princess Elisabeth:

“Parys…Parys is the perfect dream bought to life of the Paris of the 1920’s. Imagine a movie, made to showcase the beauty and spirit of a city and her nation, that is our Parys. The gardens, the museums, the cafés, the hôtels, the buildings, the people, all of them are a dedication to the vision of loveliness that Parys. It is what the city of a grand empire should look like. It welcomes you like a much loved home and amazes you with its new gorgeous things you didn’t realize had always been there.”

“Like St, James’s Paris, which inspired my father, we have the 20 arrondissments, The Arc de Triomphe, The Champs-Élysées, Théâtre des Capucines, Le Lourve, Place de la Bastille, Pantheon, the Eiffel Tower, and the Notre Dame de Paris and Sacré-Cœur. These are but a few in common yet ours are….all the more magnificent as they were born out of my father’s memory and will when he made Parys.”
