Logrus FAQ

What is Logrus?

A Logrus is a constantly shifting maze that bestows power of those who pass through it and survive. The power that it bestows is also called Logrus. Different Logrus mazes bestow slightly different powers and have different requirements for survival and successful navigation. Common requirements include exceptional strength of will and a degree of shape shifting ability. Common powers include the ability to call forth tendrils of Logrus energy, form the tendrils into simple structures such as shields, send the tendrils searching for anything the user can visualize, see through the tendrils, and transport objects and beings including the user to anywhere either end of the tendrils reach. Travel with most Logruses is safe, not requiring shielding if done Outside.

What is Pilot Logrus?

Pilot Logrus is a specialized Logrus that, unlike other Logruses, allows transit between Inside and Outside. Pilot Logrus travel within a world is safe without a carriage. Pilot Logrus travel between worlds often passes through the Pilot Logrus itself and this is extremely hazardous for any living being not already initiated in the Pilot Logrus. Pilots use specially shielded Carriages to Transport people or
animal safely through the Pilot Logrus. Having a different Logrus will not protect against the hazards of unshielded Pilot Logrus travel. Shape shifting ability may mitigate, but will not prevent, negative effects. Possible hazards of unshielded Pilot Logrus transit include, insanity, ejection, injury, Chaos cancer, bucketing, and death. The decision to accept an unshielded on world Pilot transit should include some consideration of the likelihood of needing sudden off world evacuation. Most Pilot Logrus users belong to organized Guilds that have rules that govern how the ability is used.

What is a Pilot Carriage?

A Pilot Carriage is a windowless box made of heavy medals and specially enhanced to protect living beings inside it from the dangers of Pilot Logrus travel. Especially large Pilot containers called Trains
and Ships do exist for the powerful Master Pilots and Grand Pilots respectively who can manage that much weight. Pilot Guilds have Grand Pilots who make the Carriages and provide them for their members. Single use transport bags are also available from the Pilot Guilds for a price.

What are Pilot stones and markers?

Unique markers allow an individual Logrus user (pilot or not) to return to the exact same location rather than possibly finding a similar seeming but different location. Pilot stones are durable markers created for semi-permanent placement. They can be purchased from Pilot guilds by individuals who wish to establish a permanent-ish or frequent stopping point for Pilots or Couriers. The advantage of a pilot stone is that it allows for direct transport to a frequent landing place that is not an established terminus…something like having a private landing strip or heli-pad. Pilots generally prefer using stones rather than markers or sight visualization to come in to the same location on a recurring basis.
