Each of these objects, though apparently innocent looking, have an unique ability associated with them and thus interested parties are vying for ownership of these objects by any means possible.
There seems to be at least two distinct sets of objects.
The first set of objects are the Things. These were once possessions of the rich, famous and powerful that have somehow absorbed something of the mystique, the influence, the legend of their owner and have developed over time a power. This power tends to be in keeping with the nature or public image of the illustrious or infamous owner.
Recently it has been shown that some of these items can be enchanted via the use of real metals and powers. Also it has also be seen that some of these items can neutralised if the circumstances are correct.
The second set of objects are the Items, There are less easily classified and identified as they seem to have no real precedent as far as the history of the Items goes. Nor it is the nature of the ability they possess seems related to the the mundane function of the Items and these abilities can range from the trivial, the bizarre to the truly powerful. The only thing of note to suggest they are linked is the ‘dated’ look of some of these Items.
The only shared ability of these objects is they are indestructible.
What is puzzling is why these objects have began to appear on St. James in such numbers recently. While it is believed a few of these objects appeared on St. James from time to time, in recent months there has been a marked increase in the number appearance. While there are some theories as why this might be happening, there is no obvious reason for the increase.
It is rumoured that certain parties have developed ways to predict the appearance of the objects on St. James and even their location, but how this is done is not known.
So, St. James, my home is making stuff. Or is it just collecting here? This is a very odd meta physical thing to me, any thoughts fellow operatives?
Scavenger hunt?
St. James has become the focus of many powers, most of which wish to change it in some way, usually to the benefit of an individual, cabal, or group. Lacking the potency to institute desired change in defiance of St. James’ reality enforcing powers, alternate routes must be taken through finance, crime, and conspiracy to subvert the base reality on its own level. However, the efforts of reality defying beings are constantly pushing against the environment and each other as they exercise their will to move their pieces in grandiose games. I believe there’s a tension there, just beneath the metaphysical skin of the world, where power pulses and pools, seeking egress through the allowed forms, as guided by artifacts of the collective unconscious. Legends, full of content and meaning, can become informed with real substance in this way. If something like this is happening, how might things change if the populace became aware of the beings who play in the shadows of their world, just out of sight, and of the collective arcane will which they, themselves, are wielding without conscious direction.
